How the Division Works
Once you join a local chapter (Chicago Lake Shore Chapter) or decide to become an Illinois Division Member-at-Large (DMAL), you automatically become part of the Illinois Division and the Great Lakes District.
As a member, you, your chapter, the Illinois Division and the Great Lakes District are all integral parts of IAAP. Each level interconnects to and with the other. There are four levels: the member or chapter, the division, the district and international. Each level is a valuable resource to you as a member.
The Illinois Division has 21 chapters serving several areas and one Illinois student chapter at Blackhawk College.
Division Purpose
The Illinois Division is a vital link between you, your Chapter, the Great Lakes District and International.
The Division purpose is to:
- Promote the values and mission of IAAP
- Promote the association vision
- Assist the International Board
- Promote Leadership
- Provide guidance and assistance
- Answer questions; inform members and resolve issues
Division Board Duties
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Division
- Represent all Division members
- Communicate with all Division members
- Assist chapters to implement programs, policies and projects of International
- Promote membership, goals, programs and educational activities
Division Meetings:
Illinois Division Annual Meeting (IDAM): The annual business meeting, is traditionally hosted by an Illinois Division Chapter in April or May.In conjunction with the business sessions, IDAM provides a unique opportunity to receive quality educational programs focused specifically on the needs of the career-minded administrative professional.
Professional Enrichment Program (PEP): This program is generally hosted by a local chapter and is traditionally annually in the fall. PEP provides a unique opportunity for continuing education, leadership training along with personal and professional growth through networking with IAAP members through the Great Lakes District.
